Nenagh CAT Scanner to Come Online as per Lowry Agreement

12th May 2009

As announced by Independent Deputy Michael Lowry in the aftermath of the recent emergency budget, the Holycross man received a commitment from the Minister for Health and the Taoiseach that the long running saga in relation to the CT scanner in Nenagh would be dealt with immediately.

“At my request an exemption will be made from the public service recruitment embargo to allow for the filling of a post of clinical specialist radiographer. After negotiations between the Department of Health, Mid West officials and Hospital management I had been assured the CT scanner will definitely be operational in short term.

I am delighted that this promise has been delivered on and Nenagh Hospital will be able to enter a new era, delivering cutting edge diagnostics for the people of North Tipperary and further afield.

It has been a long and unacceptable wait, but I am glad I was in a position to get this commitment despite the cutbacks that we are experiencing at a national level”.
