Lowry welcome for commencement of Borrisoleigh Main St works
18th February 2009Deputy Michael Lowry has welcomed the commencement of work in Borrisoleigh Village.
The North Tipp Deputy had secured a once off allocation of €400,000 to resurface with tarmacadam the main street of Borrisoleigh.
Included also in the works is the restoration of the footpaths.
Deputy Lowry said that he had pursued this matter directly with the Minister for Transport after the efforts of local councillors failed to get a positive response.
The North Tipp TD said-
“I am delighted that the current weather conditions have improved enough to allow the laying of tarmacadam.”
“The condition of this heavily trafficked roadway, and in particular the village square was in an appalling condition and was a huge embarrassment. I hope that the works will be completed as soon as possible and will be of enormous benefit for the residents of Borrisoleigh and people passing through the village. ”
