Lowry confirms beginning of major upgrade works on Beakstown Road

Independent TD Michael Lowry has confirmed that resurfacing will begin on the Holycross/Beakstown/Thurles road this week.

These works involve:

  • Drainage
  • Verging
  • Laying of Macadam and Asphalt
  • Road Lining & Markings
  • Improvement and Realignment of Junction at the Church of Ireland outside Holycross village.

Preparatory work is now underway and the main works will commence this Thursday the 1st of October. The works will then take 1 week to complete.

The road will be closed to traffic from 8 am to 5pm each day and diversions will be in place. Access for local residents will be maintained.

This project completes the work included in a road improvement package which is part of the agreement between Deputy Lowry and the current Government. This package also funded the improvements on all approach roads to Thurles.

The package has also delivered on:

  • Restoration Works at Ballycurrane/Cabra road
  • Dublin Road
  • Brittas/Templemore Road
  • Borrisoleigh Village
  • Cormackstown Road
  • Improvements on the Newport/Thurles Road
  • Nenagh/Thurles Road improvements

All these works included in his package have brought a range of improvements to each area including new footpaths, public lighting and pedestrian crossings.

Deputy Lowry welcomed the fact that all elements of this specific road improvement package are now delivered on.
