€29,655 funding for North Tipperary Community and Voluntary Forum welcomed by Lowry

15th April 2009

Deputy Michael Lowry has welcomed the announcement that North Tipperary Community and Voluntary Forum (CAVA) is to receive €29,655 from the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government.

The funding is being allocated to North Tipperary County Council for 2009, to support the work of the Community and Voluntary Forum in North Tipperary.

CAVA promotes the involvement of community and voluntary organisations in North Tipperary with local authority decision-making. It nominates members onto various local government structures such as the local County Development Boards and Strategic Policy Committees. CAVA is also actively involved in providing training and support for people involved in voluntary activity.

Lowry said:

“Since its establishment at the start of the decade CAVA has made a hugely positive impact on behalf of the people of North Tipperary, insuring a strong and sustained link between the local authorities and local community organization. I know from personal experience that Norin Leamy and her team have made CAVA an integral part of the local community infrastructure in North Tipperary and I am sure that this funding will be of help for them to continue their work. ”

The announcement is part of an expenditure package of €1.305 million to support the work of local community and voluntary fora across the country
