Lowry welcomes €460 million euro investment development in North Tipperary

Independent TD Michael Lowry issued a warm welcome the news that Thurles native Richard Quirke is to launch an ambitious project that will make North Tipperary a cultural, sporting and leisure hub for the country and Europe as a whole.

The new multi million euro development, to be named the Tipperary Venue, when complete will include:

- an all weather racetrack, sprint track and a national hunt track.

- a greyhound track with a multiuse stadium for 7,000 people (more…)

Ragg to Ballycahill roadworks welcomed by Lowry

Thurles Councillor Michéal Lowry has welcomed the beginning of works on the Ragg to Ballycahill road outside Thurles.

Cllr Lowry said:

“Following extensive consultation with local council officials and the Thurles Engineer, an overlay of the worst affected 1.5km section of the road will be done this week. This section runs from the Ragg to Ballycahill side. (more…)

Lowry confirms new orthopaedic services for Nenagh

Independent TD Michael Lowry has confirmed that Nenagh General Hospital is to benefit from the appointment of a new specialist orthopaedic surgeon post for the Mid West.

The post comes into effect from this week and, a surgeon has already been recruited for the post by the HSE.

As part of the terms of the new position, at least one third of the new surgeon’s time will be spent at Nenagh hospital.

He will be providing a range of services for the hospital including an out patient clinic and day surgery in Nenagh. (more…)

LOWRY HAPPY AT COMPLETION OF THURLES ROADWORKS PACKAGE WITH €1 MILLION BEAKSTOWN PROJECT

Independent TD Michael Lowry has confirmed that the extensive resurfacing project on the Holycross/Beakstown/Thurles road that is rapidly progressing this week, is the final piece of the infrastructural agreement he made with the present government for the approach roads to Thurles.

The Holycross man said that now that the approach road projects had been delivered on is concentration for the Thurles area would be the continued progression of the NRA bypass and the link road at Dovea.

The works on the Beakstown project involve drainage, verging, the laying of macadam & asphalt and road lining & markings.

Also included in the works is a major scheme designed on delivering a significant improvement and realignment of the dangerous junction at the Church of Ireland site outside Holycross village. (more…)
