Ballycurrane Junction to be Prioritised for Repair

Thurles Councillor Michéal Lowry has welcomed the beginning of works on the Cabra road.

Following weeks of inclement weather, the recent break has allowed the council to begin their much needed programme of works.

Cllr Lowry said:

“Further to the announcement by Deputy Michael Lowry in the week before Christmas regarding the €200,000 he had secured to allow for the completion of major road resurfacing works on the Cabra road, I am delighted to announce that work on the project has now commenced.

Following extensive consultation with local council officials and the Thurles Engineer, an overlay of the worst affected area at Ballycurrane will be done this week.

Further preparatory work will also be completed on the concrete section of the road in front of the Sugar Factory before a complete overlay of the paving is laid, and drainage works done, as far as O’Meara’s Oil Depot.

I am pleased that the work has now been allowed to begin following the run of poor weather conditions.”
